Campfire Stool
This, as the title suggests, is a campfire stool. The shape was milled not only to reflect my artistic tastes in such styles as Suprematism and Constructivism, but also to provide as comfortable of a seat as possible. User testing of its comfort was surprisingly favorable, with general usability scoring high marks.
Fusion 360 sketch andrendering. It's made out of 10 pieces of 0.5 inch MDF (Medium-Density Fibreboard) wood. The whole setup is then held together by four 0.5 inch steel threaded rods with eight accompanying nuts, two per rod on each end.
Foamcore prototype of profile and spacers. Note the personal Logitech mouse for comparison.
The Crawlbot wood CNC machine. It takes roughly 14 minutes for it to cut out one of my profiles.
The finished product. It took an entire can of wood sealant in order to prevent the spray paint from simply being absorbed into the MDF. Color chosen was Rust-o-leum's Colonial Red. Once again, the whole can was used.
Interactive model of profile and spacers.
