How might we create extreme use between participants of a specific event?

Beginning Phase:
Originally, every group seemed to be coming up with designs that involved people either mentally or physically doing an activity.  We felt that if everyone was going to be asked to participate in activities the entire night, they would eventually become tired and want to relax somewhere.  This is why we wanted to create a "chill space".
Brainstorming Phase: What brings people together and attracts their attention?

Diagram Phase: Before we could design in a space, we had to understand the space.
We were first drawn to the window near the corral space.  We thought that it might be possible for us to project something onto a semi-transparent sheet of paper which would allow people in the corral and the link space to view the screen.  Because we were still wanting to create a "chill space", we originally planned on just playing a movie or videos for people to watch.
Design Change:

We went from wanting to project something onto the window in the corral, to projecting something onto a screen in the link that could be seen from all levels.  We were still wanting it to be a chill space, so we decided to enclose our design in a box to add interest and create darkness for people watching the movie on the projection screen.
Diagrams:
When deciding on a location, we had originally wanted the fourth floor balcony so that our projection screen would be visible to every floor below us.  Unfortunately, a few other groups wanted this space as well.  We decided that instead of having to divide the fourth floor balcony for multiple groups to use, we would just use the third floor balcony that no groups had claimed yet.  The following diagrams are our first diagrams of the third floor balcony space.

Final Design Change:

After the class came together and shared their groups design ideas, we decided that a "chill space" was not appropriate anymore.  Many groups had gone away from doing games and highly interactive games which meant that our chill space wasn't going to work the way we had planned.  We decided to change our design idea.  We still wanted to create a floating projection screen in the middle of the link to attract people to our space, but we no longer wanted to just show movies or videos.  We wanted to have the people attempt to complete a maze upside down and blind.  Our new making project now included a projection screen, a bench to allow for interaction, and a podium that would allow our idea to come to life.
This is where our inspiration for the podium came from.

When moving the bench, the legs got caught on the carpet and snapped off.

The new legs on the bench went completely across the podium to add more stability and support.

Final Installation Preparations:
There were eight final mazes for the event. They were made by tracing a printed maze with a ruler onto an ipad. We tested several drawings and maze apps. They however, had several problems. They either didn't allow for easy navigation, wouldn't allow you to swipe to the next maze, had to be seen in order to do the maze, didn't fill up the entire screen, or had ads.  The mazes took longer to create, but the final outcome was better than our other options.

Because we had such a large projection screen, we decided to have a movie night after the project was over.
