The Pen Plotter
A CNC Drawing Machine
The Pen Plotter is a CNC drawing machine that functions similar to a laser cutter. Drawings were processed in Fusion 360 and sent to the Plotter through Universal Gcode Sender (UGS). This machine runs using an Arduino Uno with a stepper motor shield, and it draws pictures with a standard dry erase marker. Parts for the Plotter were a mix of pre-fabricated parts and homemade components (3D printed and laser cut parts).
The Pen Plotter was assembled from a kit that was used for past classes.
A demonstration of three stepper motors running through a program in UGS. This program was used for sending drawings to the Plotter, along with calibrating and homing it.
A series of successful drawings created by the Plotter. The star and sailboat were manually written using gcode, while the airplane and cartoon character were processed in Fusion 360's manufacturing environment.
