Moth Headdress | Blink 2019

Moth Headdress
Moth Headdress is a body mantle piece, or a wearable sculpture, which utilizes light as a main attraction of its form. In this piece, I sought to manipulate light using primarily repurposed materials found on the University of Cincinnati's campus. The bulk of the piece is made from repurposed cardboard, and glued together using hot glue. I laminated reflective aluminum foil on the inside of each "cone" and strung lights throughout the piece to illuminate each section.

The lighting components are hidden on top of the head on a sort of crown piece the wraps around the scull. The design of the piece allows for it to be worn without any additional anchoring or straps.
