Climate Conversations - Book Design

Climate Conversations is a short book based on the conversations I had with my friends. It consists of 5 interviews with kind of loose questions about dreams, characters, and thoughts about life and the future in the context of climate change. The entire book was written, edited and designed by me and is a kind of diary aimed at perpetuating the thoughts of people close to me.

By resigning from vivid colours and a full cover print I wanted to refer to a certain kind of naturalness. Raw cardboard, which is hidden under most hardcovers, is also used in this case to emphasize the emptiness and loneliness that can be felt when navigating the subject of global changes and climate catastrophe.
On the first page of each interview I had there is always one of the portraits of people with whom I had the pleasure to talk. I tried to diversify as much as possible the people I wanted to invite to the interview, which is why the group consists of a fashion model (Gabi), 3D artist (Julia), programmer (Kuba), graphic designer (Magda) and financial worker (Łukasz). Their different experiences with life allowed me to establish colour theme for each person that represents their character.

The illustrations were made using the traditional carbon method on paper and then refined in the graphics program.
The most challenging part of this book design was definitely the layout, as the book is written in my mother tongue, polish. I can already see the improvements that can be implemented in this design but overall I am really proud of the finished product that met the requirements and deadlines that I established prior to the work.
