Design Brief: To design a food serving tray that can be used as a normal serving tray and can also be used to serve food in a swimming pool.
Idea: Food serving tray that can be attached to a floating device that can easily be accessed in a swimming pool setting (ring float)
Contexts of Use: To serve food in a swimming pool
Users: Hotel guests, poolside café customers & home swimming pool users – all ages
Human Values: The floatable tray is designed for hotels or poolside cafés to bring food serving to a new level of entertainment to their customers in the swimming pool. The tranquility of being able to enjoy hotel/café food without having to get out of the swimming pool is an exploration in itself.
Entertainment – Exciting customers with an unusual dining experience
Tranquility – Feeling fully relaxed and enjoying food in a swimming pool
Exploration – A meaningful experience that are worthy of uploading to social media
Superiority – The design gives users a sense of luxury & special treatment
Uniqueness – Swimming pool dining is uncommon (especially in Brunei)
Management – For the hotel to work on different customer preference with minimal storage/logistics (due to the multipurpose-ness of the tray)

Hexagonal tray shape was chosen as it is the most stable shape when attached to a ring float and therefore lower chance of food/drink spillage.
