Tensegrity Structure (Digital Fabrication)

The project was comissioned by the Dean of Arqpoli (Polytechnic University of PR's School of Architecture as part of the Digital Fabrication Course. Led by the professor Perez, the team developed the idea of fabricating a tensegrity structure to be displayed by the teachers lounge. We designed the piece using Rhino+Grasshopper Software and fabricated the joints and voroniods out of a PVC board with the help of a laser cutter.

Tengsegrity is a structural system that incorporates isolated elements in compression held in place by a series of tensile elements that form a web. The result is a rigid structure that, in our case, held in place the voronoids, prevented the joints from breaking, and ultimately prevented piece from buckilng.
