My concept for this project was to intrigue the viewer to look into the Design Program at York University, rather than pushing this idea of design that they might not understand.
Many high school students to not know what what design is. I constantly have my friends asking me, "What is design?". My Goal with these postcards is to peak the viewers (high school students) interest in a weird way. In my postcards I use images and experiences that high school students can relate to, and make it the opposite of what it is.
Relatable moments like stepping on a Lego brick, or your phone falling on your face, even I reference to movie culture - aliens abducting a cow. Taking these moments and experiences and giving them an odd twist, giving the post cards an interesting look, while also allowing the viewer to guess what the image is referencing. Allowing the viewer to make a connection with the post card.
With the tagline "It's Not What You Expect" people will be interested to understand what it is that the post cards are referencing, prompting to turn it around and learn a little about design. Also giving them external resources where they can learn more.

Since my classmates always have trouble getting into the labs and finding their Student ID, I have made a lanyard so that future students to not run into this issue.
