Metal is a challenging material emotionally as it is inherently cold and hard. I wanted to create an inviting vessel that could serve as an emotional check-in point; offering the viewer a moment of introspection. Most backpacks or at least mine have indicators of my interests, whether that be through sewn-on patches, pins, keychains, etc. Each thing tells its own story and can serve as a conversation point. Each item is placed in hopes of drawing the viewer in attention in a way that softly says “this is a safe space; I want to listen to your story.”
