For Singapore's National Day in the year 2020, we were tasked to produce animated visuals for the opening of its 5th Act. Titled “Queenfisher”, the visuals were to complement the performances by local singer NAMIE and her accompanying dancers.

This was a large-scale animated projection, spanning six screens surrounding the stage, syncing with a suspended installation made out of glowing orbs.

Shown above is its official broadcast and a static recording of the piece on-site on its final rehearsal without any camera cuts to focus more on the animation.

As a Lead Artist, I was in charge of the following:

- Attend meetings with the client for pitching and feedback sessions

- Attending on-site rehearsals to make sure the animation is working as intended 

- Overall animation, both 3D and 2D

I was also joined by my Creative Director, Davier Yoon, and Jia Qi Thor for client meetings and on-site rehearsals.

Titled 'Coming Together', Act 5 wants to bring awareness to the power of unity. Every bit of support counts. In being united and supportive of one another, we will reach new heights.

The lyrics of 'Queenfisher' illustrates this concept as a little bird that let go of its inhibitions and soar to the skies to join its flock. 

To communicate this, we had the animation starts in a dark forest, as though the bird is grounded, but the forest soon takes on whimsical colors, signifying hope within the bird. By dawn, the bird is ready, and takes flight into the skies.

I collaborated closely with my teammate, Jen Hou Chaow who is the desginated 3D artist for thie project. He sculpted the landscape and and its assets in 3D. 

We utilized a mixture of 2D and 3D elements using Cinema4D and Adobe After Effects to create the styleframes shown below, demonstrating how the magical night forest slowly transitions to morning, bathed in a warm and welcoming light.
