Curiosity Factory is an exhibition created for and in LX Factory (Lisbon), an old factory renovated into a place of culture in its largest meaning.
The exhibition, in a similar way as the ancient cabinets of curiosities, is completely undefined and depends on the participant’s definition of culture.
Wordmark for the event
The style of the wordmark is inspired by the patterns of the windows in LX Factory and the cases of a cabinet. It is extremely modular and can be disassembled and reorganized in a thousand different ways.
Wordmark for the event
LX Factory is an enclosed space, with only one entrance located on a street with low circulation. It is hard to know where it is, and what is happening inside. In order to correct this problem, the wordmark is disassembled and combined with elements from the exhibition to be applied on the outside wall.

Directional signs
On each sign appear the directions for each of the places closer to it. The rule of proximity is also applied, making the place on top of the sign the closer to the visitor.
The directional arrows are colored according to the district the exhibition pieces are in. Those arrows are taken out of the grid and given their own dimensions in order to help the visitor distinguish the different places and directions and give dynamism to the sign.
Punctual signs
The exhibition being divided in 21 rooms scattered all over the factory, there is a need for signs indicating the visitor he has reached one of the rooms.
But the purpose of the exhibit being to have the visitor wander from one room to another, those punctual signs are enriched with informations giving directions to another piece of the exhibit.
