The original Nine Inch Nails logo, (see first 2 images) is one which is symmetrical, geometric, bold and is very distinctive. In creating an alteration of this logo for their successful 1999 studio album, The Fragile, I felt that it would be best to retain the geometric and bold elements of the original logo but about halfway through my design process, I decided to experiment with making a logo which is asymmetrical. Upon thinking to myself about this for quite some time, I decided to roll with the idea of having an asymmetrical logo as I felt that asymmetry best reflects the chaotic and volatile nature of the album’s sound.
