The aim is to create a structure that will represent the History of the site. Nottingham used to be a very industrial city with factories and railways commonplace around the Meadows. For a long time Industry around Nottingham has been in Decline; the Lacemarket is long gone; The Great Central Railway and depot closed in the 1960s; and the Raleigh Bike factory closed in 2002. I need to reflect the industrial past especially the railway, as this was what brought people to the Meadows.
As well as industry, I aim to include a connection with the Memorial arch and gardens as at the minute, there is no link between it and the main recreation ground and it is hard to access from there - So somewhere to reflect and contemplate would be good.
