As a graphic designer, I oftentimes get asked the question of if I still practice fine arts. Everytime I say "yes", for some reason I get a whole lot of gasps and exclamations. It's amusing to realize that once you have been categorized to something (in this case, a specific major) it's almost unheard of to explore anything else. For myself personally, I love the idea of maintaining a cross-disciplinary practice where I can cohesively merge fine arts and design.

My initial vision and goal when attacking the empty canvas was to create a generic, ordinary, well-drawn self-portrait. But then, as I continued to render down the drawings, I started abstracting it with sharp linear lines. I came to a realization that what I wanted to communicate through this drawing is that initially, we may have a clear vision of our future and what we want to do, but that eventually changes as life progresses.
