In this project, I was tasked to make designs based off "Hansel and Gretel". I reworked the story where the Witch is an alien taking refuge in an old children's burger joint and it uses a mascot costume as its new body. Hansel and Gretel in this retelling are best friends, hoping to stop this alien from hurting others.

For the Witch's design, I looked at mold and fungus as reference for what the alien would look like. This was because I wanted to show that there was an alien in the suit in a way that was not super apparent while also referencing moldy food. I added a blue overlay to the color scheme since blue is a very not appetizing color since we associate it with moldy food.

Gretel is the one that drives the plot forward in this retelling, so I used more square shapes to reflect this. I also used a darker color scheme to show that she's the more serious one of the two.

To contrast Gretel, Hansel is a lot more cheery and friendly. So a lighter color scheme with rounded shapes seems appropriate for his character.

For the restaurant itself, I wanted it to be colorful and inviting so children would logically beg their parents to eat there. Despite that, I also wanted it to feel cheap and tacky, almost as if the place is falling apart.
