Project Description Summary 

Interior Designers imagine, propose, and communicate the constructed environments that explore the relationships between materials, elements, and the human experience of space. In the process, interior designers develop an understanding of theories of spatial perception, definition, and organization. The project begins with the study of precedents which emphasize volumetric spatial qualities and perceptions in the built environment. Students will take their analysis and abstract them into figure/ ground 2D diagrams and 3D compositions. The subtractive making process using casting and carving methods wil aid the development and understanding of the positive/negative space. The constraints and metrics will direct students to design a series of volume that have relationships with each other.
