AT&T California Outages | Wireless Cell Tower Details
Objective: Currently, customers must search through a long list of 58 counties to find wireless outages and cell tower information in their county resulting in a cumbersome user experience. The objective was to find solutions to address and solve for these issues.
Challenge + Opportunity: Update the current design and create a streamlined, enhanced solution for customers to easily locate outages in their county that improves and simplifies the experience, mobile-first and works across all viewports
Solution: The redesign included the following enhancements and improvements:
• Limited the number of counties displayed in the initial view to 10, rather than displaying all 58 at once to improve readability
• Added a link to reveal 10 more counties when the total was greater than 10. When the user selects the "See more" link at the bottom of the table the maximum number of times where all the counties are visible, the link is hidden
• Added contextual content to show the number of counties being displayed out of the total number of counties
• Added contextual content to show the number of counties being displayed out of the total number of counties
• Added search functionality allowing the customer to start typing the name of their county, using field auto-population with the full county name after recognizing enough letters to display the results (# of towers offline, # of towers online, % availability)
• Leveraged an adaptive design for mobile by removing the table, eliminating the need for horizontal swiping, to display all content in view
• Adjusted the color palette for content to meet accessibility contrast compliance and requirements
