Following that, we can see on the plan that the book display area is positioned in the centre of the café, making it easier for people to find books. Not only that, but the designer also creates designs based on the concept sense of unity. Besides that, we can see from the plan that the sitting chair and table are designed based on human shapes, with the meaning derived from the guiding principle of holistic understanding.
ELEVATION A
Let’s take a look at the café bookstore exterior. Elevation A is the shop’s entranceway and façade, after that, the wall with the white paint and the entrance door is made of black metal and glass to give the whole space look larger
ELEVATION B
Elevation B has a window design. A white paint wall design gives the whole café book store design a feeling of elegance and blandness.
SECTION X-X
we proceed to section X-X where there is space for the reception area, storage room, book display area, study area and private room.
SECTION Z-Z
Section y-y is another horizontal cut of the café bookstore, section Z-Z includes a book display area, study area, private room seating area and café/ cashier counter.
RECEPTION AREA & STORAGE ROOM
Reception area wall with a wood strip and marble wall to provide a contrasting design throughout the space. LED tape light cover is also installed in the middle of the wood strip to shine on the reception area
Besides that, we can see the designer use the storage room as a partition to separate areas and expand a little space or to structure a large one while preserving light and flow.
Let’s take a look at the reflected ceiling plan. As we can see the ellipse-shaped design is inspired by the shape of the coffee bean, just like various types of coffee beans united together.
CAFE/ CASHIER COUNTER & SITTING AREA
The café/cashier counter finish with wood laminate and marble laminate which is ready for the customers to enjoy their time. Afterwards, the pendant lights create a warm environment for the users while the track lights are directed to the product on the shelf which can attract customers.
Besides, the sitting area provides extra seats for the customers to have their discourse time with their friends.
STUDY AREA
The study area is aimed to offer the customers a peaceful environment for reading. From this view, we can see the natural lighting glaring into the café bookstore which easier for the customers to read.
The swing chair serves as a calming tool for students who may be stressed. The swing is designed based on the shape of a coffee bean and finish with transparent acrylic which ensures the glare of lighting.
The study tables are also designed based on coffee beans and arranged together indicating that Unity stands upon.
PRIVATE ROOM
There is also a room partitioned with glass which creates a private space for group discussion.
BOOK DISPLAY AREA & INFORMATION SEARCHING AREA
The curved bookshelf circle around in the middle of the café bookstore to emphasise the sense of unity. The bookshelf is made of wood panels and finished with wood laminate.
For the information searching area, people can find the information online. Not only that information searching area also provides a system that enables the customers to look for the books they want in the café bookstore.
