FORESTA GYM
New school gym design for Scuola Primaria Via Console Marcello, Milano. The structure was placed half underground to minimize the total height and visual impact on the site. The roof structure is made from cross-laminated timber and supported by interconnected wood joint beams. Along the perimeter of the structure a deck was created allowing look-in from the ground elevation into the gym. On this deck tree pillars are scattered at different angles and orientations adding extra support for the roof and simulating a ‘forrest’ for children to play in.
