To Be or Not To Be, Hamlet Book Cover

Conceptual Book Cover Project - Hamlet.
Typography, Handmade, and Designers choice. Through this project I learned to apply design principles within constraints to create something that is visually appealing, while also showing important messaging and symbolism through design.

This book cover was successful because it showed symbolistic messaging through typography. I think the hamlet written over and over represented the clear narcissism, the red hamlet represented being alone and singled out, and the flower covering with the red gradient showed the family name being stained with tragedy and poor reputation.

This one was successful because I was able to create good symbolism with the red, torn paper, typed paper in the background, and messy dark skull, all with physical materials. This was a good composition and effective in conveying messaging.

I loved this book cover. there was so much symbolism to Ophelia and Queen Hamlet like I wanted. It turned out interesting to look at, chaotic and unsettling, a little bit edgy, still royal, and showed knowledge of design principles.
