Ethics of Joy is an experimental ambient music project created in 2020 by Cristina Bodnărescu (interdisciplinary artist) and George Urse (lead singer, guitarist and keyboardist at Phonic Bomb). Ethics of Joy is interrogating the conventional understandings of being human and the relationship with the non-human in the era of the Anthropocene, using music as a means of conceptual exploration. Relating to land, water, plants, animals, bacteria, and to technological agents – plastic, codes, algorithms, Posthuman Landscapes, their upcoming debut album, is concerned about the aesthetics of ruin, as the physical decay of nature and its possible becoming.

Technique:

Altergorithm is a live improvisation using Behringer Deepmind 12 for the percussive bass sound, a DX7 emulation from Arturia controlled through midi keyboard. A microphone was put inside the kalimba and processed by VSTs: Movement from Output & Replika from Native Instruments.
