THE MYTH OF SISYPHUS

Sisyphus, son of Aeolus, was the founder and first king of Corinth in ancient Greece. He quickly gained infamy for his trickery and intelligence. He was so cunning, that he managed to cheat death and escape the underworld on 2 separate occasions. After dying for the third time, Sisyphus found himself at Zeus' mercy, and he was made an example of. As punishment for his crimes against the gods, Sisyphus was given the eternal punishment of wrestling a boulder up a hill, only to have it roll all the way back to the bottom just as it neared the top.

Many interpret Sisyphus’ punishment as a metaphor for life.
