In British folklore and stories, ghostly black dogs are often seen as evil and in league with the Devil, however the black dog of Somerset, the Gurt Hound, was one black dog in folklore who was good. The black dog would haunt and walk the pathways of the Quantock Hills guiding lost travellers home.
