MHC 2021 - Graphic Design: Peace Poster Project

Project 2: A Human Community with Shared Future Project
On September 22, A friend of Professor Yulin Wang (Professor Lu Ming) from Nanjing 2nd Normal University emailed him a message, inviting our 2nd year graphic design students to participate the IPBP 2021 poster design competition. He was so excited to have this great opportunity to showcasing our student works in Nanjing, China.
Ideas working with symbols found in the Canadian and Chinese flags
First design ideas for the poster(s)
The first idea was to have the poster be represented with two different meanings with the third poster being a combination of the two.
The second idea is based on a dart board with the tail of the dart having the Chinese flag on it with the dart landing in the middle of the bullseye.
Final poster design after the final class critique where I made the background white as the green was too contrast  and change the colors in the pattern on the dart board.

Bio for Focusing On Peace
Graphic Design I – ARDE 331

My original objective of this poster was to have an emphases on peace and what the main focal point someone should direct their attention to. Using the sense of the game of darts where a player must throw their dart to as close as the center as possible. Like the difficult task of achieving peace in our world, we must direct all our attention to this single location if we are able to be victorious. The color scheme relies the use of mostly calm and cool colors such as blues, purples for the dart board. The tinted green as used to draw out the deeper colors on the dart board while complementing them as the same time. The slogan of poster “Focusing on Peace” replaced the numbers of an original dart board to give a more stronger idea where someone should be paying attention to.
