Your Book - The Colour Psychology - Blue
For this post, I will be talking about the psychology of colours. Colour psychology is a study that can determine the impact of human behaviour from certain colours. Different colours have different meanings as to what they represent and the effects they have across different cultures. But most importantly about colours is that to humans, their behaviour can be influenced by their personal preference as well.

Everyone has their own favourite colour and maybe their favourite colour matches their personality. For example, red is associated with is excitement, orange is associated with confidence, yellow is associated with creativity and green is usually associated with nature. All colours have different meanings to humans. My favourite colour is blue because blue is associated with happiness and peace, which is what I like.

But the confusing thing about blue is that it also considered to be a colour for sad emotions like sadness or depression. I was a little bit confused about that. If you remembered my last post, I was talking about a book I read titled 'Bluets' from Maggie Nelson and the book was about her obsession with blue. As I said in my last post, It was a good book to read. But at the same time, I wanted more information as to why blue may be considered as a colour for sadness.

I admit that when I first read it, I did not get the full understanding of Nelson's book. If I have chance to read it again, I will definitely do it in my spare time. Back to the colour, I been doing a lot of research about the psychology of blue and what I gather is that blue is favored by so many people. This is because it can be regarded as a non-threatening colour, especially for sadness.

Blue is the colour which is associated with calmness or composure, both being described as peaceful. But on the other hand, blue can be a colour of sadness. The darker shade of blue may also create negative feelings like depression, stubbornness, timidness and unreliability.

After the research, I now fully understand why blue can be a confusing colour of emotions to humans to like. The different shades of blue are some of the reasons for this, with light blue being happy and darker hues of blue being sad. As I mentioned in my last post, I did reveal blue is my favourite colour because of the blue sky and positivity energy I feel from it. This allows me to do fun activities in my spare time.

Lastly, the reason why I did this research is because these colours can help me to understand the meaning of them. Especially when I use colour gel filters for my shoot about people's connections to song, when I use the colour gel filters for my shoot for the songs of connection in emotions.
