Designed by Pablo Silva for formo di_, the MW lamp has the ability to switch from dim ambient light to more directional lighting (and vice versa) with a simple movement. This transformation capacity of the lamp and the almost playful interaction that the user has with it is what makes it suitable for any interior space.
This peculiarity is the result of research on the intrinsic properties of materials when folded, in this case paper. For this reason, in the structural aspect, the lamp does not have any internal mechanism that allows it to hold itself in its different "positions", but rather uses only the internal tensions generated by the folds of the paper. The paper lampshade is made by hand and the type of paper selected is sufficiently translucent but also resistant to the use given to it, resulting in an object with a long life and high aesthetic and functional quality.
