Tangible Interaction - Media Wall

INTERACTIVE MEDIA BOARD
Concept
The following prototype concept explores the movement, Tap & Hold inputs from user interactions to generate visual and auditory output (light projections and synthesizer sound responses) to create an engaging and exciting display, in aims to present an enjoyable and pleasurable interaction.

The wall display involves using various inter-connected touch-points using conductive paint. The prototype uses electrically conductive paint, wires and circuits to detect and connect user interactions to the bare conductive touch-board. These circuitries are connected to Arduino to sense tap & hold user inputs. P5js is then used to generate light and sound responses that is projected on the synth board via projector and speakers. The project has value as a multi-person interactive experience, highlighting connection and playfulness

In the early stages of thinking about our concept we discussed and decided on the movement quality and it's possible solutions towards designing and making an interactive instalment. After researching further into bare conductive paint we decided to build on the Synth Board design. Moreover, we explored existing interactive wall project examples. Dalziel and Pow's Animated Smart Wall as inspiration of the first interactive video wall project that utilised a Touch Board. They used animation projection and interaction, to create advertisement that captured and engaged audiences (BareConductive, 2021). This involved the use of electric paint to create sensors on a large scale display where multiple users can interact with it. As a result, we experimented with this idea to create a large scale interactive sound synth-board that engages multiple users through tap & hold movements surrounding conductive electrical paint and touch-board.
