Making of Design Principles introduced architectural concepts through a series of design exercies, centered around a 5x5x5 inch cube. Students discovered and made their principles through the exercises. The cube is a Black Box Theatre (26.5'x26.5'x26.5' in 3/16 scale) and with our principles, designed a verstile space for the improvisational actors which can be used to explore their craft.
First, string and planes were used to define a 5x5x5 cubic void in the space of a 24"x24"x24" mesh cube. The void could not be defined by using the mesh as one of the sides.

My design principles are centered around a field that can be mainpulated to allow programs of the theatre to exist in the site. The field can grow, be bended, craved into, and expanded. This field defines the boundary of the site and the programs inside such as the theatre space, ticket booth, and dressing rooms. The direction of the field moves the auidence and actors together into the performance where "theatre" can happen. Theatre is an any interaction between the actor and the auidence. The idea is that the two forces of the actors and of the auidence change the field and ulitmately the space of the theatre.
