As a kid, I had observed that my Grandparents never did really talk much to each other. They used to just talk in monosyllables or make sounds like grunting (especially my grandfather).I was confused about their relationship , I knew they were husband and wife, but they never showed any emotions justifying that. The only instance where I have seen them bonding was when they used to make and chew paan together. They had this box, where they used to collect and keep the ingredients to make paan.
When I was 8 years old, my Grandmother passed away. After her demise, my grandfather stopped chewing paan altogether and even threw the box away. Now looking back, I realise that they were so in love with each other that my Grandfather couldn't even bear to look at a box which reminded him of my Grandmother.
