What is Metaphysics?

For more than four decades, Larry J. Ansell has been active in the real estate industry and has acquired dozens of commercial and residential investment assets that include apartment complexes, office buildings, hotels, a shopping center, and restaurant buildings. Larry Ansell is also an alumnus of Delphi University and holds a PhD in metaphysics.

The field of metaphysics is where scientific observation and questioning meets aspects of the world that cannot always be observed or measured. The term itself reflects this through its components, meta and physics. Meta means 'over and beyond' while physics is the study of the physical aspect of nature through empirical research. The field addresses abstractions such as time and space, cause and effect, and the presence of matter.

Since these questions relate to the nature of reality, metaphysical explorations are often at the foundation of philosophical schools of thought. They also intersect with religion and spirituality, in questioning the existence and mechanics of God, destiny, and free will. Metaphysical questions also find their way into areas of the empirical sciences that are not fully understood, such as the treatment and power of artificial intelligence, and the possibility of multiverses.
