Travel sketching:
Spanish cuisine
Apr – Jun 2021
In 2021 I travelled to Spain and spent almost three months exploring this sunny country. I have to confess: together with hiking and swimming, food became one of my favourite experiences here. And also one of my favourite topics to draw! This is a collection of my food travel sketches from different parts of Spain.

Materials: Copic markers, pencils, sketchbook 15x15cm

We start with
Fruits

Juicy orange.
Hand picked right from an orange valley nearby
Nispero.
Or loquat, in English. Tastes like a mix of cherry and orange

Continue with
Snacks and main dishes
Salmorejo.
Creamy tomato soup with eggs, fried bread and jamon
Pulpo de la Galega.
Octopus pieces, first boiled and then seasoned with sweet paprika and olive oil.
Zamburiñas.
Sort of scallops – tender and delicious, with a shell up to 7.5 cm in diameter
Guisantes con jamon.
Peas with ham – perfect as a starter or as a snack
Ensalada mixta.
Basic salad, usually with tomatoes, canned tuna flakes, boiled egg, olives, iceberg salad and balsamic dressing

And finish off with
Desserts
Tarta de queso.
Cheesecake, often home made
Arroz con Leche.
Sweet milky rice dessert with a pinch of cinnamon

–––––––––––––––

And if you are still hungry, here is a little bonus.
A special Easter dessert that I've never seen anywhere before – sweet bun with an egg in it. The egg could be boiled, chocolate or even a Kinder Surprise one.
