Kili | Jacquard Design

Project brief - To design a collection of contemporary textiles suitable for home interiors, taking inspiration from a motif found in India's rich textile heritage.
After studying the parrot motif in paithanis, Banarasi brocades, patolas, Ashavali brocades and Pochampally ikats, the style of Kanjivaram sarees was chosen.
A study on the Kili (parrot) motif - The forms are highly detailed, stylized, extravagant and grand. The wing has a main part with multiple stylized feathers and a long tail with multiple feathers. The eye is elongated. A ring at the neck, rounded beak and detailed claws are its identifying features.
