Woodcarving - flower motif #1
The carving below was made as an assignment in Papanaasam Kudisai Ashram, where they make priceless, intricate works of art, sculptures, carvings, etc. A beginner is given three motifs to carve and show as an exercise. For one to be called a qualified woodcarver, they must carve all three motifs that can meet the standards of perfection upheld by the artists there. The carving below is the first among the three motifs. It is the least complex motif of the three motifs and it was the only one I could manage to carve under a lot of guidance and supervision from the talented artists there. This carving didn't meet the standards they uphold but I enjoyed the process thoroughly and learnt a bit from my mistakes.
