Over the Summer of 2021, I worked as a Design Intern to the Editor of the magazine "Tail Fly Fishing Magazine" under the art direction of editor Joe Ballerini.
Over the course of the Summer, I completed 3 series of projects for the magazine, starting with t-shirt designs.
The "Frankenbeast" concept was an idea that never took off, until Joe asked me to take a shot at it. Joe showed me his original idea for the 3rd Frankenbeast, and had me create my own versions, 1 and 2, and then asked me to redo 3.
The Second Project was a series of logos for magazine sections with inconsistent branding.
Joe asked for several iterations of each logo, with a horizontal, vertical and icon.
On The Plate is a segment featuring different recipes to use on your game. Joe wanted a simple, readable logo that could have a cool branded effect.
I also made a version as a neon sign, which Joe enjoyed.
Inside the Box is a segment featuring new lures and other Fly Fishing related equipment.
Vise is a segment featuring step by step directions on tying your own lures.
The Third and final project was a series of stickers.
The machine fish is a set of stickers inspired by different salt water fish referred to as torpedos, subs and rockets, because of how powerful they are in the water.
