The more pink-ish model is the same model under colder light. A lot of time went into a color and finish that was both modern and high end looking. I looked at high end makeup companies packaging and modern appliances and personal accessories and came to a conclusion of pink/purple skin like tones with a satin finish. I also wanted a slight glitter to it. Pearl mica in the paint gives that effect more in person than on camera. I wanted the sparkle to be more subtle like high end car paints because too much glitter would make it look cheaper or tacky in this context. Same idea applies to the gold/copper piping.
The hairdryer is wireless with a charging dock. There's also a concentrator nozzle attachment. I looked at youtube hairdryer reviews to see their main complaints. Many said they like tight concentrators to get the high pressure needed for salon quality blowouts.

The hairdryer uses a blower style fan with air intakes from the top and bottom, and uses indirect heating. The goal is to have a fan powerful enough that you don't need excessive heat to dry your hair.
first the sketches, then the blue foam models, then some more sketches, then the marker renderings.
These are my mood boards with the persona I was given. We were given different quotes and were asked to infer a persona from that.
I wanted a design that fit the lifestyle of my user. Bose, Dyson, Mercedes, Braun, these are what I took my design cues from. what this imaginary hair dryer would be competing against would be the modern Dyson hairdryer.
Lastly were 2 additional colorways for the hair dryer: Purple and Subway. Purple fit with the color scheme and subway fits into the manhatanite lifestyle of the person I imagine buying this. The kind of colorway exclusively sold at the MOMA gift shop.
