This piece is an exploration of site and material. It is placed in a site to where its surroundings emphasize the sculpture's presence whilst the material and texture attempt to camouflage itself with the trees around it. Motifs of power and subjugation were considered in its creation. The landscape architecture echoes man's influence on the site and the history of the site emphasize these motifs through the quality of the wax which looks like scarred skin. Market Square in Providence, Rhode Island was also known to be an area used for trading slaves.
