Sack Pack [Elective for Sustainable Design]

This project was given as an assignment in an elective course namely Sustainable Design. Students were divided into groups and each group was given a specific material which included bamboo, cotton cloth, cardboard, coconut skin, jute etc. The objective was to study the provided material and use it to creat a commercial product. As an addition we also had to design a campaign for the products promotion.
I was a part of team which included three people including myself, Mahwish and Hira. We were given jute as our material. Looking around in our context there is an abundance of jute in the form of sacks or 'bori'. These sacks are often wastes without having a recyclable purpose. Our aim was to use the characteristics of the sack in the most yeilding manner.
After a series of different experiments we decided to use the sack as a raw material for making back-packs
Prototypes were hand-made and taken to people for their feedback
The product was then went through a stage of branding and promotion
