HUDSON RIVER PAVILION

Sitting by the river, not too far from Stevens Institute of Technology, is the Hudson River Pavilion & Park proposal. The site shares identical features with many other former pier locations along the river, being an under-utilized industrial land. The project, as the last missing piece in the green belt of riverside parks, connects the Skate Park with the Boathouse and Maxwell Lawn on the north. The proposed pavilion building is located at the center of the site, bringing in an amphitheater, a public restroom, a bike parking facility, and a small diner. These programs are integrated with the park’s walkway system and are all precisely organized under a continuous double-height roof. The center walkway through the building divides up the pavilion into half, with one side being air-conditioned. Keeping up with the newest trend in architectural design, the project adopted parametric design tools and environmental analysis software into the development phase.
