I was recently commissioned to do a simple black and white illustration by a writer for his story.
As far as I know he commissioned several artists, one each for every illustration.

I started off with a lot of sketches for him to select from.

He liked the second one and the last one best, so I took elements from him and with a few changes I made this for him.

The story is that of a giant that made a dollhouse in a mountain, and in each room he put a person and turned them to stone. The lady I illustrated was a painter and the giant had her paint a portrait of him before being turned to stone.
I didnt think there was much of a link between her and the portrait though, so I stuck a bunch of painting tools into her pocket to connect them.
