This piece is inspired by the heat, light, and movement of the molten rock on the inside of the earth, which is concealed by the hard cold exterior of the earth's surface. This piece intends to capture the elusiveness of the molten rock as it appears through cracks in the earth's crust. The overall composition is inspired by maps of the earth. This textiles object makes use of tapestry techniques and a technique of knitting into the woven fabric as it is on the loom to create a transparent knitted overlay to add atmosphere to the surface of the fabric.
