Form and Types of Leather (For All Sorts of Gloves)
There are lot of leather types that you can use for making leather gloves, Certainly it depends on your requirements, designs, and of course, on budget. Moreover, the basic form of leather and how it is processed/tanned also depends on its main usage, like Aniline leather does not have its surface covered by coating or those pigments that hide the original ground and grain of leather. Nubuck is the also a form of leather in which the skin is buffed or sanded on the upper (Grain) side of skin. though it is has some similarity with Aniline but it is made from the upper and first layer of the skin. It is more durable and convenient when you prefer durability over looks.

Suede is also an example of leather that looks like velvet, and it has napped finish, Suede and Split are the under-side of animal skin, or you can say the lower layer of skin that is separated. Split is harder than suede, but more durable.

Here we give you a birds-eye view on some popular leather types for making leather Gloves:-

Cowhide: Perhaps it is most demanding leather type of making leather gloves because of its gentle look, durability, smoothness and comfort. Overall, this type of leather is best for looks, durability, but it is less smooth, and flexible than sheepskin and goatskin.
Goatskin: is also very good choice for making gloves, it is more flexible and smooth than cowhide, but less durable. It provides good fitting and personally, we do prefer it for making mechanic's and similar gloves in goatskin, as it provide good flexibility and provides good resistance as well.

Sheepskin: is more smooth and gentle on human skin than cowhide and goatskin. It is also very flexible but less durable than goatskin and cowhide. Sheep Nappa is also used for special types of gloves where extra fitting and a high fashion look is required.
Deerskin: is an excellent type of leather, preferred due to all main qualities that other types of leather has, like durability, finer grain look, smooth and flexible, but less in used due to price factor, mostly Asian market import it from Americas as per customer's requirements. Mostly people sell goatskin and even cowhide by tanning and processing them to look similar to deerskin and sell them as deerskin. So always ask if it is genuine deerskin and what is its origin.

Buffalo hide, is less comfortable, smooth and even less in its look but still it is widely used if it is tanned and made properly, People use it as substitute of cowhide to reduce the price, mostly people sell buffalo hide products saying they're made in cowhide.

2- Never buy leather gloves which are made and tanned from cheap dyes and chemicals which may contain harmful and forbidden chemicals like Azo, PcP, Benzedrine, etc These can also damage your skin and create problems like several skin infections and diseases including eczema, allergies etc.

3- Always discourage the use of Nitirile and Latex Gloves as they have poor hygienic because no air passes inside the gloves. Bacteria and similar infections grows inside gloves very fast. So regular use of such gloves can also cause problems in the shape of diseases allergies, etc.
