Tea Experience Technocast

The "Technocast" project was designed to marry the arts of digital design and 3D printing with ceramic slipcasting. In consideration of the "Tea Experience", the team designed a curved mug that fits comfortably within your hands. Fitting perfectly into the mug is a dish that contains any necessary tea addition: sugar, honey, milk, etc. The project process included sketch development, digital design development, 3D printing of ABS model, model filling and refinement, foam mold cutting, ceramic 2-part mold casting, slipcasting of mug and container piece, and final glazing. The project served primarily as an experiment in bringing design from ideation in technology to realization in traditional fabrication.
