War of the Worlds is one of the most iconic novels ever written. There are movies made from the book and then there are movies and tv shows made after reading the book due to inspiration. I was heavily influenced by the movie with Tom Cruise in it and chose to center the tripod design around that specific one. I wanted the colors to feel doomsday-ish and stressful yet cohesive.
