Typography: Invisible Cities ISTD

Invisible Cities is a well known story by Italo Calvino. A Classic Interactive Retelling explores four tales in the book through a
new and engaging way. The book explores this story by utilising typography as a wayfinding tool. Invisible Cities explores the world through the words of Marco Polo as he describes cities he has visited to the great Kublai Khan.

The main concept is inspired by the duality and elusiveness between Marco Polo’s words and the journey of exploring each city. Polo states that the same thing can mean many different things to different people and thus points to a layer of hidden meaning. The duality of each city is explored through the way-finding and unique type treatment that is ever-changing on each spread. Invisible Cities: A classic interactive retelling is meant to be a precious commodity like those Polo brings back from his journeys.
