Canadian Corporate HQ

The charge of this project was to bring together hundreds of previously disparate brands and create a welcoming new home under one roof. Tasked with providing a physical space for the consolidation of many brands while still maintaining distinct products, people, and ideas, we transformed a vacant 120,000 sf building into a thriving hub for this global corporation. Our vision was to have those on the inside experience spaces to coalesce while providing the outside world with a glimpse of an energized community.

The concept involved placing staggered planes across the floor plate to serve both as neutral backdrops and frames for dedicated branding moments or “billboards”. Each plane has an alternating gradient effect giving the illusion of movement throughout the space. Along each plane, a portal strings users through the space while also acting to interlink pockets of collaborative and celebratory moments. In between the planes is a custom canopy that spans high above the collaborative areas to further instill a sense of unity.  Devoid of assigned seats, private offices, and abundant with amenities, this project was a proof point amidst a larger strategy to launch this corporation into a 21st-century workplace. I was involved in this project from start to finish, beginning with proposal submission and interviews through to concept development, construction administration, and post-occupancy services. This project served as a critical learning experience for me both in terms of technical skillset and problem solving while also navigating changing project requirements as the global pandemic unfolded.
