CONDOMINIUM FOR THE SINGLES IN SINGAPORE
Introduction
The project for single persons living in Singapore will be using the floor plan and site location of the Bayshore Condominium.
The condominium will not follow the standard and typewriter design as the current condominiums in Singapore since they just focus on the existing motif of the modern design condo and apply it in every different project. This project would like to make the condominium for individuals to be more open, more artistic and more convenient. The reason why this idea needs to be applied in the project is because the reasearcher wanted to bring to the future residents the creative living. People are always creative and they need a environment that can motivate them to have the creative thinkings. The current condominium cannot do that since it just offer them a place to live and an acceptable design style to live in.
What is the “New condominium concept” ?
The flexibility is very important in the daily life, especially for those people who have a lot of different acitivities in their routine. The purpose for choosing the new kind of living concept in this project is to bring the new concept into human’s daily life to enhance there lifestyle as well to make the living space to be more interesting and spiced up.
For the single users target, they need a playful and unique place to live in since they live alone and the normal interior design may become boring when they live in the house for long time. Opened interior is versatile and convenient for those people who are single but also has quite a lot activities in the house. The opened concept can be applied to any where in the house, especially the walls, the walls in the house are known as the part that divide the interior into small and even private spaces with different functions. In this term, the flexibility of the walls play a very important part in the design. The flexible walls can be used and designed as the partition walls, sliding doors even the wardrobe.
Moreover, the flexibility will be seen in the furnitures, fixtures and the way the designer plays with the layout.
Design concept
The concept for the Condominium for single persons was inspired by the the Gears movement.. The flexiblity in design is the coporations of different functions or different areas that combined together and create a typical and physiscal concept that is convenient and versatile for the users. The gear movement also is the corporation of different sizes and types of gear that are connected and forced to work together. The gear movement also has the meaning of corporation, unification and maintenance.
The gears concept application
Besides, the gear concept as mentioned in the Design Brief chapter, it will be applied into the walls and the flexibility will be indicated by the furnitures in the house. The walls area created in the flexibility purpose, which means the walls in the design area the partition walls that are made from wood or wood laminate, vinyl. This kind of wooden wall is curved to follow the gear concept and the walls also are the sliding door that open and enclose the area whenever needed. This kind of wall allows users to enlarge their living area or enclose it in different occasions and purposes, besides, it can helps the interior to look smarter, more unique and more spacious.

The wall also can be used as the hidden wardrobe or cabinet that placed between the toilet and the bedroom for the convenience in use. This kind of wardrobe wil trick the people’s eyes since it is covered by the mosaic tiles and mirror surface so they will not notice there is a wardrobe inside the wall.

FOCUS AREA 1: APARTMENT UNIT TYPE 1

Floor plan
The floor plan of the Unit 1 has the "Feminine Design" elements that would refer to the user target as female. This floor plan indicates the whole general view of the typical type of the unit in the Condominium for the Singles.
Living room
The living room is the area that mostly used by the owner as well the visitors, that is why it is need to be having an impressive environment that makes the owner feel special about his/her house. The living room is designed in Contemporary Classic style which is inspired by European style.

Dining area
Dining area is next to the living area which is simplified with a set of black and white sofa, with the connection between living area and the kitchen, the dining area will seem to be more spacious and more interesting to the user.
Kitchen
Kitchen area follows the concept and the style of the house but has an interesting flooring that made from coated concreat with Chevron pattern. The pop-up color in the stools makes the kitchen to be more lively and interesting. Otherwise, kitchen counter still keep in it the classic style with curves and details to be matched with the crown molding on the wall.
General view
The general view helps viewers to have a clearier in this public area in the house. The public area in this unit included: Living area, Dining area and Kitchen. They all somehow are connected to each other and by combining the style and color, the whole area has been enhancing more than ever !
Bedroom
The bedroom is more simplified with the contemporary color scheme - Black, white and yellow. The whole environment looks still young, energetic but not too annoying and boring. The purpose to have such the design and color scheme is bringing into the bedroom the new look and the new atmosphere compare to other condominium bedrooms in Singapore.
Working area
Working area is designed with an accent wall that covered by a layer of natural brick. With the contemporary in furnitures and lightings, the designer wanted to have a creative and modern area as well to give to the client a better feeling about the usual working areas.
Moreover, the style of the working area is not going so far from the general design of the bedroom or even the other areas.
FOCUS AREA 2: APARTMENT UNIT TYPE 2
Floor plan
The Unit type 2 has the Living area that is divided seperately with the Dining area and Kitchen. The Bar corner is the connection between the areas and the Dining area is facing the Kitchen. Kitchen in this house is enclosed and opened whenever the user wants it to be because the curvy partition wall can be used as the sliding door in the area.
The bathroom has 2 divided small area which are toilet area and bathing area. The walk-in closet is attached with the bedroom. Since the whole unit is design with the color scheme Black, White and Brown, the whole environment seems to be more masculine compared to the “Feminine Design”
Living room
The living room in the “Masculine Design” has the wooden beams that help to divide the living area with the dining area. The atmosphere still be the contemporary classic that makes the interior looks classy but not old-fashioned and boring.
The main color scheme of this unit is Black, White and Brown. The color combination is more mature, more masculine and warmer compared to the “Faminine Design”.
The accent wall is painted with egg shell dark blue color that is the same color with the unit type 1.
Bar area is the connection between the living room with the dining area. Since the male users have more entertaining activities in the house than the female users, the bar is provided as the entertaining area, and also is the additional area that makes the interior to be more functional and more interesting.
The Bar area is also designed with Brown color from the wooden material. The whole atmosphere stil contemporary while it is the classic combinations of the furnitures.
Bedroom
The bedroom of the “Masculine Design” is the combination between classic style and contemporary style which are in Black, White and Brown color. The color scheme yet, modern and classical at the same time.
The Bedroom include the sleeping area, entertaining area and working area. There is also a big walk-in closet that attached in the left side of the bedroom that is divided by a single wing door.
The walk-in closet in the house is dedvided by the curving partition wall, that is why the shelves also have to be curved to be able to run along the partition wall. The quite spacious classy walk-in closet that has the floor-to-ceiling shelves that help user to store their clothes, shoes, accessories and so on.
The window view to the outside that brings the natural light to the walk-in closet to enhance the atmosphere as well to get rid of the odour sometimes there are a lot of stuffs that are store in this area.
Bathroom
The bathroom of the unit type 2 has two small room in it, including toilet room and shower room. The outside area is the bashin with counter and surrounding mirrors. The atmosphere is still contemporary even though there are mostly the classic material and furnitures combination.
