Concept Statement
Our work aims to contrast the sharp almost harsh architecture of the Whitehouse campus. The building is industrial in style and is comprised of hard edges and straight lines. Our design looks to challenge this by bringing an organic form into the space. The juxtaposition of the natural design within a hard edge architectural building creates a fresh atmosphere allowing people to see nature within a space that is normally absent of anything organic. The design aspires to transform the viewer’s perception of the space, allowing them to take part in the artwork rather than simply viewing it. By allowing the audience to experience the artwork, it is able to evoke within them associations, thoughts and moods. We plan to use the straight edges and lines of geometric shapes to mirror the building’s architecture, combined with nature’s complex structures, to create an organic sculpture that emphasises the irregularities and variations in nature.
