The idea behind the illustration was that mosquito nets are one of the most efficient ways of thwarting the spread of malaria. The mosquito in the illustration is based off of a drawing I did of a grotesque-looking monster.
This is the original drawing I did which the mosquito is based off of. I changed it to look a bit more insect-like by adding the wings, the proboscis and the mesh over the eyes.
