Teen and Pre-Teen Programs at ART

The founder and president of Wilderness Point Investments, RoAnn Costin has been working in the finance sector for four decades. Active in her community, RoAnn Costin serves on the board of trustees for the American Repertory Theater (ART). She received the 2017 ART Angel Award and has attended various fundraising events on behalf of the theater.

A part of Harvard University, ART improves public health through its many programs and practices. These programs focus on individuals of varying ages, including teens and pre-teens.

The theater maintains two companies for individuals of these two age groups. ART Young Company provides students between the ages of 11 and 13 with education relating to ensemble-building and writing. Students in this group work toward a workshop performance that they write and perform. The ART Teen Company culminates in the same way, but the program caters to students between the ages of 14 and 16.

In addition to its Young and Teen Companies, ART fosters theater skills among young artists through ART at Matignon workshops. These are held at the Cambridge Arts Academy at Cambridge Matignon School and cover topics such as speech and voice, improvisation, and scenic design.

In April, students between the ages of 11 to 15 learn more about acting and script writing during spring break. Acting classes introduce students to different types of performances, like script analyses and monologues. Meanwhile, scriptwriting courses instruct teens about structuring stories and creating theater scripts.
