COMMUNITY - BASED DESIGN PROPOSAL
This is a project that I've done in school where I am supposed to come up with a community-based design that address two urban issues so to improve our cities, making our lives and our planet better. As our planet, built environment, and urban communities are facing a great deal of stress, things like the quality of our lives in public spaces are also some of the challenges we are facing in our cities today. Therefore, I had chosen a community space (Golden Mile Complex Field) provided for me and had come up with a solution to address the two following urban issues, 'Better Lives' as well as 'Democracy and Equity'.
MOVIE SCREENING |  'Watch an old movie together'
Address 'Democracy and Equity' where every single race movie will be included and run so that none will be left out. Thus, helps promote racial harmony.
GETTING INTO BUSINESS |  'Support the locals'
Address 'Better Lives' where stalls can be opened by any races but with a small condition. Thus, this help strengthen the bond within families, parents and their children where they are able to take a break from the electronics or daily study/work life.
TAKE A BREAK |  'Chilled and Relaxed Bonding'
Address 'Better Lives' where it provides basic shelter and seats for public to relax and enjoy together. Thus, helps in creating memories among them. Likewise, it is also a place for one to 'take a break' from his/her work life as well as school life as Singapore is a rather competitive country where it might be too stressful for one at times.
[ Are accessible to wheelchair bound people ]
Summarise
Helps address ‘Better lives’ and ‘Democracy and Equity’ ensuring that every single race, gender and even the disabled is taken into consideration as Singapore is a multi-racial country where none should be left out.
Likewise, to attract more to come to this place, I've designed it to be more instagrammable where among the greenery here are the different variety of colours being insert into each of the parts in the design so as to brighten up one’s day.
